In this day and age there are so many things… No, objects… Items? We fill our time with useless noise, color, ingredients.
Ingredients are a good example. There are many ingredients that are good, flour, eggs, chocolate chips, asparagus, tuna, cheese, oatmeal and so on. But if we put all the ingredients that we like into a pot the outcome…. Well the outcome can be imagined and ignored.
I find I desire to do many different activities, I want my hand in many pots. The problem is that I will never accomplish any one task, not well anyway. It is best to choose 2-3 activities or goals. Once those are finished or you find that they do not need as much of your attention as when you first started, then you can add something else.
I find I want to do YouTube, homesteading, run a business, work forwards in my IT career, be a great father, and husband. The desires compete one with the other, for time, money and attention. I know I’ll need to choose just 2 or 3. Goodness, running a business would likely take all of my attention. I do have my non negotiable: serving God, being a father and husband are the main priorities.
I want to encourage those of you who aspire to greatness. You see the success others have, applaud for them. You may feel that you are stuck and every time you really “try” something comes up. You finally wake up at 6 in order to get a head start and your 3 year old decides to join you. It’s ok, be patient and consistent, keep moving. It may be slow at the start, but when you look back 5 years from now all that slow movement will have gotten you far.
Keep going friend.
